What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Manager of Physical Security to lead the Field Intelligence Element (FIE) Special Security Office, Department 05112. This office is responsible for interpretation and oversight of security requirements to include Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) and DOE Orders. The functions of this department include providing a wide variety of security support for Sandia’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), personnel security, SCI visitor control and badging, security reception support, the FIE Incidents of Security Concern (IOSC) program, the FIE Operations Security (OPSEC) program and the FIE Equipment Inspection and Compliance program.

The responsible manager will partner closely with the Special Security Officer (SSO), oversight at DOE Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DOE/IN), other FIE security organizations and mission organizations to support the infrastructure for and enable the delivery of products and services to the Intelligence Community.

Operational activities include day-to-day support to intelligence mission organizations, ownership of processes and tools for FIE security requirements and flow-down and coordination with corporate security organizations to ensure alignment and compliance with corporate requirements. The department partners closely with sister organizations in FIE Operations to ensure implementation of a comprehensive and cohesive security program.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Lead a high performing, diverse team in the implementation of a wide variety of security requirements.
  • Provide management assurance and performance metrics as an indicator of health of the security program.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to understand and address security issues and incidents.
  • Due to the nature of this role, candidate must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, plus (8) years of relevant experience; or equivalent (AS +12)
  • Current and active DOE Q-level security clearance, or DoD TS equivalent security clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SCI access, which may require a polygraph

About Our Team:

The Field Intelligence Element (FIE) performs high-impact, national security work for a broad segment of the Intelligence Community (IC). The FIE Special Security Office protects the information of our customers by providing a secure environment that allows Sandia to deliver products and services that protect our nation's security. The FIE Special Security Office is responsible for interpretation and oversight of security requirements, to include physical security, access controls, facility accreditation, incident investigation, and clearance management.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
