Position Description
The Klein lab at HMS develops and applies innovative experimental and computational high- throughput genomics tools across a wide variety of problems in stem cell biology, developmental biology and immunology. We are looking to hire a research assistant who will assisting in microfluidics, microscopy, flow cytometry and sequencing experiments. The research associate will also carry out routine tasks to maintain lab spaces in working order, under the guidance of the lab manager. They will work with our Department Lab Manager to ensure smooth operation of shared facilities, ordering of new equipment and reagents, and maintenance of equipment. This is an opportunity to learn cutting- edge techniques at the forefront of the next-generation sequencing revolution. You will work closely with the PI, a post-doctoral fellow and a graduate student to plan and execute experiments. You will also have the opportunity to participate in lab meetings. This posting is specifically looking for candidates with prior experience in preparing libraries for Illumina sequencing.
 
Basic Qualifications
  • College background or equivalent work experience preferably in Molecular Biology or a related discipline.
  • 1-2+ years related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Prior experience in preparing DNA sequencing libraries, operating microfluidics and working in a core or service-oriented environment is required.
Additional Information
This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.
