Job Description
Summary
Research Technician II to work on insect transgenesis and genome editing.
Job Duties
- Performs embryo injections in Drosophila and Schistocerca.
- Clones constructs to perform crispr genome editing.
- Performs DNA/RNA extractions, plasmid mini, midi and maxi preps.
- Conducts basic fly genetics and animal/insect husbandry.
- Works with instructors/postdoctoral fellows to assist in experiments.
- Works on molecular and human genetics.
- Performs transgenesis, molecular biology and cloning with complex iterative cloning methods.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in basic biology, genetics or neuroscience.
- Background in invertebrate biology and transgenesis are a plus.
