Job Description

Summary

The Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics/Critical Care at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is recruiting an adult critical care trained ACHD Assistant Professor to work in the first of its kind Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) ICU. Located in the newly constructed Legacy Tower of TCH Medical Center, the ACHD ICU opened 1/12/2021 and features 16 state-of-the-art rooms. Our census has exceeded expectations resulting in excellent programmatic growth and the need to add colleagues.

ACHD ICU faculty primarily care for critically ill patients aged 18 and above with CHD. This is a mixture of medical and surgical admissions and includes advanced heart failure therapies such as mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, Impella, VAD, balloon pump) and heart transplantation. Additional patients include peri-partum or pregnant women with cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, or ARDS from our Pavilion for Women occasionally older critically ill TCH patients. Faculty will supervise learners and APPs in the ICU environment and participate in QI and research projects. Additional roles in other adult ICUs will be considered as appropriate based on the applicant's training path.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements: Educational requirements for this position include Residency in Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, and Fellowship training in Adult Critical Care with appropriate board eligibility. Pediatric residency, pediatric critical care and/or adult or pediatric cardiology training are highly desirable. Based on the applicant’s training pathway and experience, a period of orientation and additional training while employed as an assistant professor should be anticipated given the highly specialized nature of this unit.
