A Clinical Audiologist treats and provides therapy to individuals having impaired hearing while using technical equipment to perform tests and achieves outcomes to help individuals dealing with loss of hearing.

Is a vestibular audiologist with abilities to interface with multiple specialties. 

Can supervise a vestibular clinic and manage patients from complaint to resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostic audiological test procedures to evaluate patient's hearing status, auditory pathway function and communicative function and maintains records for all services.
  • Interprets and reports test results to facilitate medical diagnosis to provide counseling and education about hearing loss, hearing aids and communication to patient and their families.
  • Performs electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids.
  • Performs hearing aid checks and minor repairs of hearing aids.
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision of student externs, clinical fellows, fourth-year Au.D students and otolaryngology residents, as requested.
  • Assists with planning, budget, service or project development, fee setting, purchase of new equipment or materials.
  • Performs daily and monthly equipment checks and biological calibrations. Assists with electroacoustic calibration of equipment, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Doctorate in Audiology (AuD). Current employees may be grandfathered with Master's Degree in Audiology.

Certifications:

  • Must be eligible for an Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology license to practice audiology upon hire.
  • Must hold Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology license to practice audiology upon start date.
  • Must obtain certificate of Clinical Competence Audiology (CCC-A) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) within new hire period.

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

  • Work Experience:
  • Must have completed Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) Year, or equivalent.
  • Must have broad knowledge of diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology clinical skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to assist patients with mobility problems.
  • Good hand dexterity to manipulate small objects associated with hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.
  • Ability to push carts which carry audiology test equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment s required.
