Job DescriptionRequired Qualifications (As evidenced by an attached resume):
PhD (foreign equivalent degree) in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences or Applied Mathematics by December 31, 2021. Rich experiences in artificial intelligence techniques for power system stability and security, machine learning, and distributed control/optimization for resilient power grids.
Experiences in distributed computing, cybersecurity, computer networking, microgrid stability, formal methods (such as reachability analysis), quantum computing, real-time simulation, and/or networked microgrids.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Electrical Engineering. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Develop and demonstrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled, provably resilient networked microgrids (AI-grid)
Prototype quantum computing and quantum networking technologies for resilient power systems
Embed provable and deployable security and privacy functionalities in a smart programmable microgrid platform
Verify the developed algorithms and prototypes on large microgrids, Naval systems and utility systems
Assist grant proposal writing in areas such as networked microgrids, quantum engineering, formal methods, cyber physical resilience and data-driven engineering
Work collaboratively with industry/government; mentor graduate students in strategic areas
Collect, analyze and maintain data, including literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data
Participate in manuscript writing for publication in top journals such as IEEE Transactions on Power Systems and Nature series; collaborate with the PI on a new monograph
Other duties as assigned, which include lab/testbed maintenance, organizing and attending meetings, presenting results in major IEEE Conferences and workshops
Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
