Job Description

The University of Oklahoma invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Musicology in the School of Music, College of Fine Arts.

  • Teach a 2 + 2 course load. This load may include undergraduate courses for music majors, graduate-level seminars on renaissance and baroque era music, research and bibliography, leading the Collegium Musicum, and new courses related to the applicant’s other interests and area(s) of expertise.
  • Build and maintain an active research program. Establish a record of creative activity and/or research productivity in national and international venues.
  • Mentor and advise graduate students.
  • Participate fully in service, including School of Music and University governance committees and other duties as assigned by the director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Musicology or D.M.A. in Historically Informed Performance. Applicants who are ABD with an expected date of completion in May 2023 will be considered.
  • Scholarly excellence through written work, either through a record of scholarly publication or strong evidence of the potential for publication.
  • Undergraduate-level teaching experience.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching music majors or graduate students.
  • Experience leading an early music ensemble.
  • A developed secondary area of specialization that complements the course offerings and research strengths of existing faculty in terms of time periods, geographical regions, musical genres, or methodological approaches.
  • A commitment to contribute to the vitality of the academic community within the School of Music and across the University through teaching, performing, and service.
