Job Description

Summary

The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, is in search of an Audiologist to provide quality patient care through the administration and interpretation of diagnostic audiological tests.  The Audiologist will provide outpatient care to patients at Ben Taub General Hospital as part of the Otolaryngology team.  The patient population requiring diagnostic evaluation will primarily consist of adults, though there will be occasional need to perform thorough newborn hearing evaluations. 

Job Duties

Administers and interprets basic and special hearing evaluations and assessments.
Provides supervision to the newborn hearing screening program; ensures compliance with Texas Department of Health
Service and Texas State Law.
Provides supervision and training to graduate audiology students as needed.
Supervises audiology technicians as needed.
Collaborates with Chief of Otolaryngology service line at BTGH to update and maintain audiological diagnostic policies
and procedures.
Maintains mandatory quality and data tracking systems, develop more efficient and effective mechanisms for tracking
clinical information as needed.
Collaborates with Chief of Service at BTGH, as well as departmental faculty to maintain diagnostic quality and positive
patient experience in Audiology.
Participates in informal as well as formal education of residents as requested by department leadership.
Manages diagnostic equipment quality and function, responsible for regular calibration and updates as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Audiology.
  • No experience required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas State Licensure as an Audiologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
