What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a Manager of Information Systems Engineering, to lead the Network Transport Services organization (9776). The Information Technology Infrastructure Group, 9770, is looking for a dynamic individual to lead and manage Department 9776 Network Transport Services. We are seeking an IT leader who stays current and interested in new technology advancements, aware of industry trends, and has a reputation of leading teams to success. The successful manager will be responsible for IT services which include DNS, DHCP, Enterprise Logging Services, GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networking), SNL wireless design and implementation, Optical Transport Services/DWDM, Radio and Spectrum Management. The network transport services manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding the organizations daily activities of the critical IT services. This includes working several 24x7 environments to ensure all high-profile systems and services are operational and ready to support the mission of the IT infrastructure for Sandia National Laboratories in providing customer focused, flexible, secure, and proven network transport services to meet Sandia’s corporate and mission IT needs. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Management leadership and oversight for all Network Transport services + Develop strategy for technology maturation of critical technologies, lead projects and help develop the 5 year roadmaps for services + Collaborate with customers, vendors, and IT partners across Sandia to provide innovative design solutions and capabilities to Sandia’s corporate and mission IT MOWs + Develop and communicate a vision and strategy to focus the talents of the network transport services team + Support full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) for Enterprise IT solutions in the tier 0/1, logging, GPON, WiFi, Optical transport, and Radio/Spectrum Management services + Deliver results, effectively manage people, and guide multidisciplinary teams + Mentor and lead the organization on department tasks and organizational goals and objects + Knowledge of technical business development (may only apply to certain organizations) + Organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks and projects. + Work with sensitive information and classified matter + Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall team goals, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements + Propose and implement business recommendations to improve operations, performance, and management assurance + Foster an environment of inclusion and take an active leadership role in modeling and growing values in diversity, equality, and inclusion + Oversee development of business and financial plans, reports, and analyses + Manage environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance issues affecting logistics operations in accordance to Sandia rules and guidelines + Coordinate and manage members of the organization, including hiring, professional development, and performance management The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field plus 8 years of relevant experience; or equivalent (AS + 12 years or no degree + 16 years) + Experience leading or managing programs, projects, services, and/or teams. + Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance. Qualifications We Desire: + Information Technology Service Management certification (e.g. ITIL, Lean IT) a plus + Two years of demonstrated leadership experience + Demonstrated ability to negotiate and meet technical, programmatic, and financial requirements to the satisfaction of the customer in the execution of complex information technology projects + Experience with developing and managing budgets + Professional certifications in Project Management (e.g. Project Management Professional, Stanford Advanced Project Management) + Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with other organizations to achieve common technical and programmatic goals + Proficiency with and demonstrated innovation in the lifecycle engineering of computing infrastructure. For example, enterprise architecture, system change and release processes, technology road mapping, business relationship management, etc. + Demonstrated understanding of information system accreditations, cyber and physical security, vulnerability assessments, and the management of classified document repositories + An active DOE Q-level security clearance is desired to start, with the ability and willingness to obtain additional Other Governmental Agency (OGA) clearances, which requires agreement to participate in random polygraph testing About Our Team: Business Overview of 9776 Network Transport Services: This organization is responsible and driven for providing customer focused, flexible, secure, and proven network transport services to meet Sandia’s corporate and mission IT needs. The services include DNS/DHCP Tier 0 services, Enterprise Logging Services, GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networking), SNL wireless design and implementation, Optical Transport Services/DWDM, Radio and Spectrum Management.
