City of Hope’s growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas.The successful candidate:Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of medical/surgical, ambulatory care and same-day surgery patients. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by Patient Care Technicians and other members of the healthcare team.Adheres to the hospital and department infection control policies including but not limited to hand hygiene, asepsis, isolation practice, and employee health practice.Assesses the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person.Implement and provide care of the patient receiving Therapeutic phlebotomy.Demonstrates effective communication skills to manage complex patient and family needs.Administers medications via all routes, using the 6 rights, medication bar scanner and monitoring patient for side effects.Ability to collect blood specimens and blood cultures.Ability to care for patients with IV lines, central lines and ports.Must be able to work 5 8's, both 6:30a-3:00p and 7:00a-3:30p, varied hoursQualificationsYour qualifications should include:1 year experience in areaAssociate Degree in Nursing or equivalentArizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact StateBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, stakeholders will have (30) days from the date of hire to acquire attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
