Job Description
Plan, supervise, and implement new and existing College initiatives focusing on career success and increased student engagement, success, enrollment, and retention.
Ball State University’s College of Sciences and Humanities seeks a dynamic professional to direct and expand Compass Advantage, an innovative program to ready liberal arts students for the job market, and to coordinate academic support services through the college’s planned Student Success Center.
Job Function:
Plan, supervise, and implement new and existing College initiatives focusing on career success and increased student engagement, success, enrollment, and retention.
Minimum Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience:
One year in a position (staff or faculty) involving direct student support or substantive interaction with student support units.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with alumni, faculty, and other stakeholders to provide students with assistance on career and academic preparedness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, implement, and participate in new and existing College initiatives focusing on career success and increased student engagement, success, enrollment, and retention. Including the Compass Advantage program and proposed College student success centers.
- Hire, supervise, and manage student tutors and mentors working in Compass Advantage and other programs.
- Collaborate with Compass Advantage staff to sustain and expand alumni networks and expand, sustain, and create structured opportunities for students to engage with alumni mentors and create new ones.
- Develop, design, and execute engaging student retention activities, in collaboration with other campus stakeholders including Compass Advantage, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Summer Bridge, Jumpstart, and First Year Experience.
- Collaborate with department chairs, faculty, and Career Services to ensure effective integration of career management skills and dispositions inside and outside the curriculum.
- Collaborate with college stakeholders to develop long-term plans for student success and retention, including career management, across the college; set program goals and implement consistent assessment.
- Collaborate with college communications staff, University Marketing and Communication, and other stakeholders to develop and implement communication plans to ensure robust student and faculty participation in student success and career management programming.
- Collaborate with advising staff, faculty, and other stakeholders to monitor student success via the EAB navigate Student Success Management platform.
- Conduct research to discern best practices in student success and career management and keep abreast of developments in the field.
