Core Staff Scientist

 

Summary about the Core:

The Cancer Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics Core (PK/PD Core) at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute aims to provide a broad spectrum of high quality and cost-effective services including in vitro ADME and PK, physicochemical profiling, analysis of drugs and metabolites in bodily fluids and tissues, and PD endpoint quantification in preclinical studies as well as for early phase clinical trials.

 

Position Highlights:

  • The Scientist will lead AMDE and in vivo PK services to characterize and optimize ADME/PK of the lead small molecules within Moffitt’s oncology drug discovery pipeline, coordinate PK-driven lead optimization to deliver suitable compounds as preclinical candidates, and ultimately into clinical development
  • The position facilitates close partnerships with disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, and cancer biology to design promising clinical therapeutic candidates against cancer targets, conduct preclinical development studies, and support clinical evaluation

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • At least three years of relevant ADME/PK experience within the pharmaceutical industry and/or CRO setting
  • Track record of successful contributions to development, execution, and fostering of translational PK/PD relationships studies on a small molecule drug discovery program
  • Hands-on experience and strong troubleshooting skills for LC-MS/MS bioanalysis
  • Strong leadership skills, with emphasis on coaching junior scientists to build a high-performing team

 

Responsibilities:

  • Routine oversight of current ADME and in vivo PK services in regard to assay quality monitoring, data release and sharing
  • Development, validation, and implementation of suitable ADME/PK screening assays to support lead optimization small molecule drug discovery projects, where new assays services are required
  • Develop and execute scientific strategies to address ADME challenges on discovery and development programs.
  • Provide scientific feedback and guidance on chemical modifications that may improve ADME properties to advance investigators programs; prioritizing and executing on key deliverables and project needs
  • Coordinate with and mentor core staff on related applicable services
  • Implement innovative ADME/PK technologies and approaches to enhance scientific impact and/or efficiencies

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • BS required, MS or PhD preferred, in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacology or related discipline with 10+ years of experience (biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO experience considered) or 5+ years of experience in an Academic Core Facility
