Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Under direction of supervisor or physician receives and prepares patients for examination or treatment.
- Performs initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and assists physician with related examinations/procedures as directed.
- May perform routine screening tests.
- Documents patient information in the patient medical record.
- Performs clerical, stocking, maintenance and other related duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Earned a High School diploma or GED in the U.S.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

- English required
Certifications:
- None required
Competencies (Complexity of Work):
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Prior experience in a customer-facing role; prior experience in a healthcare setting in a patient-facing role preferred
- Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all of the stated experience.
- Previous experience documenting exam findings in Epic is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment utilized to perform testing procedures.
- Manual dexterity to perform various exams and hold equipment; good eye-hand coordination; may require long periods of standing and walking.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
