Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of our AI/ML, Quantitative & Digital Sciences (AQDS) team, you will:
Generate insights using advanced ML techniques from Pfizer’s proprietary and external data with the focus on clinical development
Partner with clinical statisticians, data scientists, medical development leads and evidence teams and successfully collaborate on use AI/ML techniques to impact Pfizer portfolio under the guidance of the AQDS function lead
Collaborate with Pfizer teams and colleagues to help with decision making and implementation of contemporary AI/ML models (e.g. Causal AI, Generative AI, Digital Twins, Knowledge Graphs) to clinical development projects
Work with a team of data scientists to develop, test and validate AI/ML tools for use across multiple therapeutic areas
Work with internal and external teams to bring the latest solutions and technology to Pfizer including publishing or presenting their work internally and externally
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with key therapy areas (e.g. Immunology & Inflammation, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Anti-infectives) to identify scientific problems, identify data sources to solve the problem, select and implement AI/ML methods and convey modeling insights to clinical and operational teams to advance the mission of Global Product Development
Review and supervise data collection/aggregation through model building and deployment to ensure robust performance for all predictive and classification algorithms through well-developed AI/ML analysis plans
Deliver AI/ML models and associated analytics designed to drive the interrogation of datasets for insights in scientific and operational application areas. Solutions include the application of specialized approaches in classification, regression, clustering, NLP, Generative AI, image analysis, knowledge graphs, digital twins, and/or other relevant techniques
Ensure Pfizer methodology remains current through knowledge sharing of new tools and/or vendors working in AI/ML.
Utilize expertise in Clinical Development, including early through late-stage clinical trials, and knowledge of data, analytics, and AI to design the most valuable solutions, advise team members, stakeholders, and ensure implementation of the most practical approaches that achieve the desired outcomes
Work across organizational lines helping to connect the dots across Clinical needs and help with the development of the cohesive strategy that serves those needs efficiently
Translate clinical data and analytics needs and priorities into tactical projects for AQDS to lead and advance clinical development
Maintain an active external network in the life sciences AI/ML community to understand state-of-the-art capabilities and potential impacts to Pfizer’s early to late development teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and Masters degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Scientific Machine Learning, Physics, Operations Research or Biomedical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years related data/analytics experience in a pharma clinical trials environment or biotech/tech industry
Working knowledge of bioinformatics, clinical / medical informatics, computational biology, and AI/ML
Understanding of biopharmaceutical clinical trial data and molecular biomarkers
Experience using and developing of AI/ML techniques to solve complex multi-dimensional problems leveraging expertise in clinical data analysis, biomarker analysis, computer science, computational analytics, data science and/or statistics
Clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges presented with applying AI/ML to business problems within the life sciences industry
Experience translating customer needs into AI/ML solutions
Strong programming skills (Python, R, Julia)
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Google, Azure)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in a scientific, computational, biomedical, or engineering discipline and a minimum of 2 years related data/analytics experience in a pharma clinical trials environment or biotech/tech industry
Hands-on experience shepherding early or late stage clinical development projects (with a focus on Phase 2 and 3) from study design through submission
Experience applying advanced analytics and AI/ML to clinical trials
