Job Description

Responsible for providing technical support and operation assistance to the X-Ray Microscopy group; provide software, electronic, and controls support for beamline operation; provide repairs and maintenance as part of beamline operations as well as user experiments; assist scientific and engineering staff with instrument upgrade projects; utilize Linux, EPICS, X-ray data analysis, large-scale x-ray scientific instruments, electronic circuit design & assembly, analog electrical components, precision motion controls, python programming, and graphical user interfaces to perform duties; act as the primary technical contact with other APS technical and engineering groups; in support of beamline operations, prepare and monitor procurement of system components; and coordinate assembly and testing of components and systems.

Location: 9700 S. Cass Avenue, Lemont, IL 60439. 

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);

Training: None;

Experience: None;

Other Requirements: Must have completed one (1) academic semester of coursework and/or academic research work which included use of all the following: Linux, EPICS, X-ray data analysis, large-scale x-ray scientific instruments, electronic circuit design & assembly, analog electrical components, precision motion controls, python programming, and graphical user interfaces.

Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
