What You Will Achieve

You will serve as the technical leader for EHS & compliance for a large-scale environmental remediation project located in central New Jersey.  In this role, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve programs within an EHS management system framework and be a member of the site leadership team. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to internal standards. You will also provide programmatic health & safety support and be a key member of the Environmental Engineering, Remediation and Transactions (ERT) team, which provides leadership, expertise, and execution in the clean-up of environmental impacts, wastewater engineering, environmental due diligence, and surplus site management globally. 

How You Will Achieve It

  • Oversight of application, maintenance, and renewal of all site permits/licenses/registrations (and their equivalents)
  • Complete all routine and non-routine site reporting to agencies, where required, and coordinate/oversee government inspections pertaining to compliance programs
  • Management of Change Implementation Procedures, including program reviews with the various teams for new construction, new remedial projects, process changes, and modifications to existing projects and equipment.
  • Site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) development, or ensure updates by others, to reflect site changes or changes in federal, state and local regulations or internal requirements.
  • Implement site safety management program, including conducting periodic housekeeping inspections, visual standard compliance assessments, regulatory compliance audits, regular safety walks, and metrics tracking/reporting. 
  • Ensure site contractor implementation of health & safety plans, high hazard safety programs, hazard communication and other site safety, compliance and environmental requirements.
  • Oversight of site Emergency, Spill and Regulatory Plan Updating
  • Site EHS Orientation Programs and Training management
  • Site Waste Management Program oversight
  • Ensuring a strong site health and safety culture and driving a strong health and safety culture across team projects.
  • Team Safety Program lead and safety metrics tracking
  • Management of team required training program (OSHA, RCRA, DOT)

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of progressive experience as an EHS and compliance professional; OR Master's Degree with 3+ years of progressive experience as an EHS and compliance professional; OR Associates Degree with 8+ years of progressive experience as an EHS and compliance professional; OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of progressive experience as an EHS and compliance professional
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and NJ state regulations applicable to environmental remediation sites, including but not limited to OSHA (HAZWOPER and General Construction), CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA)
  • Ability to influence decision making of senior management, including influence of business decisions at site level with the site leadership team
  • Self-motivated individual who is effective working in a values-based team environment
  • Leverages excellent interpersonal and communications skills to review, discuss, and inform key stakeholders of concepts to drive informed decisions
  • Excellent technical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

  • Experience on environmental remediation and/or heavy construction projects
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training
