Job Description
The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is under the broad direction of the Interventional Radiology Section Director, the Administrator of Diagnostic Imaging Services, the Supervisor of Interventional Radiology and the Diagnostic Imaging Manager. The IR Technologist shall be responsible for performing sterile invasive and diagnostic procedures as well as administering contrast agents on selected portions of the anatomy as requested by the clinician on patients based on age appropriate criteria. The IR Technologist is responsible to work as part of a team that may consist of licensed independent providers, nursing, specialized scheduling coordinators, supervisory and management staff. The IR technologist assists the radiologist during the entire course of the interventional radiology procedure.
Must be able to work assigned hours and be available after assigned hours as needed.
Must meet all behavioral and ADA standards as delineated in the job description
Must be able to work varied schedules and "ON CALL" hours.
Education required:
High School Diploma/ GED
Field of study: Radiologic Technology- Must be a graduate of a JECERT accredited School of Radiologic Technology
Preferred education:
Associate's Degree-Field of Study: Radiologic Technology with advanced certification in the vascular discipline.
Licensure required:
- ARRT
- BLS
- FL State License and ARRT-R upon hire. -*Must obtain ARRT (VI) Advanced ARRT Certification In Vascular Interventional Radiology (VI) within 1 year from date of hire.
Experience required:
At least one to two years of previous Interventional Radiology experience in a hospital setting preferred.
*Will consider training based on skill, IR knowledge and completion of didactic training. Must be ARRT-R. One year from date of hire will be granted for non-advanced certified technologist to become ARRT (VI) certified.
