Job Description
Position Highlights:
- The Research Coordinator III recruits participants, coordinates studies of moderate to high complexity (e.g., supportive care clinical trials), collects data, and other study duties pertaining to their assigned protocol(s).
- The candidate will report directly to the Lab’s Principal Investigators, Drs. Jessica Islam, Amir Alishahi Tabriz, and Kea Turner.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting ongoing and new research projects for the Cancer Care Delivery Lab. - This position is expected to work under general supervision and direction from the supervisor and Principal Investigators to implement and coordinate research, including administrative procedures.
Ideal Candidate:
- A professional, personable, organized individual with healthcare/medical knowledge in oncology and experience with the recruitment of study participants.
- An individual with strong communication skills who can tailor their presentation style to diverse audiences (e.g., clinicians, patients, caregivers, research team)
- An individual with strong teamwork skills who can work well with and develop relationships with other research team members and other key stakeholders (e.g., clinicians, patients, caregivers, administrators)
Responsibilities:
- Screen, identify eligibility, and consent participants. This could be any research participant, including community based or clinically based participants depending on the study needs.
- Identify and support relationships with external recruitment partnerships.
- Documents the consent process accurately pursuant to regulatory and Moffitt guidelines.
- Manages more complex studies, in addition to higher level coordination of activities for assigned investigators.
- Enters data and other pertinent information into the appropriate databases (i.e. Redcap, Powerchart, Oncore, sponsor specific EDC system and responsible for quality of the data coming in and ensuring that the protocol is being followed appropriately.
- Responsible for independently updating protocols with PI’s approval for submission to the Regulatory Specialist.
- Documents deviations timely and communicates with the proper stakeholders (PI, Regulatory, Management).
- Communicates with Moffitt stakeholders and external partnerships to facilitate research collaborations to advance PI project aims.
- Assist with abstracts and basic publication work, as applicable.
- May serve a role as project lead and is expected to mentor and coach more junior team members in the same PI group or disease program.
- Will lead recruitment initiatives on a team and act as a project lead in this capacity (i.e., pod, clinical team, community group working on a portfolio of studies).
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Biological Sciences or relevant field required with 3 years of relevant research experience OR Master’s degree with no experience.
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree an Associate’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience may be considered.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
- Critical thinking skills, ability to adapt quickly to respond to the needs of the study team.
- Ability to be resourceful and problem solve.
- Preferred knowledge of research coordination including conducting research study procedures for observational studies and clinical trials. Strong communication with participants and stakeholders.
- Preferred experience in Redcap, Qualtrics, Powerchart, Oncore or other data collection tools.
