The Space Control Capabilities team is a group of computer scientists and cybersecurity professionals working on a variety of emerging technical challenges in the national security space arena. Working on existing projects and developing new opportunities, this group of top-flight technical professionals and innovators are a key element of Sandia’s overarching space program development and strategy. Our ideal candidate is a skilled technical professional with a depth of experience in modeling and simulation who is also open to taking an active role in program management and developing new opportunities. Working with our key sponsors and business partners outside and inside of Sandia National Laboratories is core to the function of this role, so expect travel at least one week a month to support these objectives. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline. + Eight years of experience in space systems development where at least four were focused on technical delivery in one of the following domains: + Next generation flight systems + Space domain awareness missions + Space systems modeling and simulation for existing and emerging technologies + At least two years of experience in program development, including identifying, developing, and realizing new project opportunities. + Experience in modeling and simulation using one or more of the following tools/languages: MATLAB, Python, C++, Java. + Experience with DOD and IC Space Missions. + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and SCI clearance, or equivalent, which may require a polygraph test. Qualifications We Desire: + Advanced degree in a STEM discipline + Experience with the modeling and simulation of remote sensing and/or space-based systems + Demonstrated interest and success in recruiting, hiring and developing/mentoring new personnel + Demonstrated business and political competence while interacting with customers + Experience executing and leading SCI and/or Special Access Program (SAP) level projects + Experience with developing and implementing strategic goals and objectives + Demonstrated ability to deliver results and effectively lead/guide hard-working, experienced technical staff + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Experience developing and presenting proposals to internal and external partners + Proven ability to build trusting relationships + Active DOE Q and SCI clearance, or equivalent About Our Team: We provide solutions to advance remote sensing, space situational awareness, and space control. The department’s focus is on developing state-of-the-art capabilities to enable Space Mission Engineering program execution and Sandia’s National Security missions. We maintain expertise in software/hardware architectures, algorithm development, software engineering, object-oriented software design, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and astrodynamics that creates and delivers next generation software and hardware solutions to meet complex national security space missions.
