What You Will Achieve

You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer’s Environmental, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members’ timely actions and efficiency. You will be responsible for managing and supporting emergency dispatch operations and environmental operations. You will be accountable for activities involved in identifying hazardous workplace conditions and take effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions. You will also participate in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation.

As part of the Technical Operations team, your prior work experience and ability to apply your breadth of knowledge will help you adapt the standard methods and procedures. You will help us identify required delivery and process improvements that drive increased efficiency, throughput, and quality. Your expertise will help you in deciding the methods and procedures that are the best fit for different work situations

How You Will Achieve It

  • The role fulfills two primary tasks: emergency dispatch operations and environmental operations.

  • Emergency dispatch operations - Respond to calls and alarms that come into the Dispatch center from Pfizer sites within the county according to procedure. These calls include emergency (1-2-3) for fire, medical response, hazardous materials response as well as general dispatch for various site systems.

  • Response includes dispatching emergency personnel as well as communicating with site leadership and community emergency personnel.

  • Operation of the site paging and notification systems for safety and emergency announcements.

  • Response to site alarms that are relayed to the Dispatch center which typically involve phone calls to operations or maintenance personnel to follow-up on the alarm condition.

  • Maintenance of the Dispatch Log to document all activities.

  • Environmental Operations – Coordination of immediate response activities and reporting relative to chemical releases at Pfizer sites in the county.

  • Monitoring and operations of the site environmental control systems. These systems include the thermal oxidizers, steam stripper column and the associated chemical process wastewater management system, deep-well injection system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system and waste solvent storage system.

  • Although these systems are typically controlled by the operator from the control room via a sophisticated automation system, the operator will be required to periodically perform manual intervention on these systems to make adjustments, deal with process upsets, complete equipment cleaning/changeover and prepare for system maintenance.

  • Perform and document periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) site inspections of various site environmental infrastructure to verify that it is in good condition and maintain compliance documentation as necessary.

  • Retrieve samples of process and sewer streams for both compliance and system troubleshooting purposes.

  • With a reasonable understanding of piping systems, control valves, pumps and associated monitoring equipment/instrumentation; periodically perform troubleshooting of systems to deal with malfunctions and communicate effectively with site maintenance support to complete repairs as needed.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ year of experience.

  • Certification in assigned area if applicable.

  • Effective Interpersonal Skills.

  • Effective written and oral communication. Dispatch responsibilities require periodic announcement over the site PA systems.

  • Good knowledge of computer operation and MS Office, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Experience as a Chemical Operator.

  • Experience working in manufacturing environment.

  • Delta V and Wonderware experience

  • ​The understanding of basic chemical processes from differing buildings in API that can affect TOx, Sanitary/Storm sewers and Stripper Column

 
 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Some standing, walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting and moving of containers up to 25 kg, operations of manual valves, some extended periods of sitting to monitor and interact with dispatch and automation systems.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

12-hour Shifts from 5:15pm - 5:45am (5-5/5-4/5-5/4)

Weekend, Holiday, and Daily Overtime may be required to meet business needs.

The salary for this position ranges from $22.06 to $36.77 per hour. In addition, this position offers eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday and other pay premiums depending on the work schedule and the Company’s policies.
