Job Description

Our Total Rewards team is seeking a Total Rewards Specialist to join their team! In this role you can expect to:

  • Counsel employees, retirees, dependents, and beneficiaries on eligibility and provisions of Argonne's Total Rewards programs and plans.
  • Participate in planning, coordinating and/or presenting a wide range of educational and informational Total Rewards programs.
  • Act as an informational resource and advocate for benefit claims and issues.
  • Evaluate and administer recognition programs.
  • Maintain, create and update Total Reward related websites and online resources.
  • Educate plan participants in the use of internal and external Total Rewards web resources.
  • Benchmark best practice data on program and plan enhancements and presents to Total Rewards Leadership.
  • Create and update reports as needed within Workday, MarketPay and other applicable systems.

Position Requirements

  • Continuing education and training to ensure an accurate working knowledge of all federal and state laws/regulations governing employee benefit programs (e.g., ERISA, PPA, EGTRRA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADEA, FMLA, TEFRA, DEFRA, HMO Act, DOL,etc.). 
  • Ability to understand and to be conversant in all Argonne Benefit Plans.
  • Knowledge of HR Policies and Procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills and the ability to handle sensitive personal information in a professional manner. 
  • Effective skills in developing and maintaining good working relationships with multiple vendors.
  • Ability to asses and ensure understanding of the employee/retiree need so as to direct to the appropriate benefit resource for assistance/resolution.
  • Effective organization skills for planning and , coordinating all phases of assignment
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to assist employees/retirees with the use of vendor web resources.
  • Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
  • PA2: Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience with benefit programs, or equivalent.
  • A Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Certificate, or progress toward a Certificate, is highly desirable.
