Pfizer Rare Disease is seeking an experienced sales specialist for the continued promotion of Oxbryta (Voxelotor). The Sickle Cell Area Specialist responsibilities include developing a comprehensive strategic business plan that includes specific, measurable, and action-oriented objectives to ensure they achieve/exceed their sales goals. They must partner with the Area Business Manager to target and strategically manage their customer universe, while coordinating activities with local Sickle Cell Therapeutic Specialists within shared accounts. The SCAS will manage funds and resources efficiently and ethically to maximize sales to ensure ROI (Performance Based Culture). The SCAS will report directly to the Area Business Manager. This role provides the opportunity to be part of a first in class sales team with responsibility for an exciting product that will positively impact and change the course of Sickle Cell treatment.

How You Will Achieve It

SCAS Competencies & Behaviors:

  • Territory Optimization – The SCAS will compliantly lead and collaborate with Pfizer partners to develop Pfizer Rare Disease Products' appropriate use by identifying shared objectives, aligning resources, and deploying patient-centric innovative solutions to achieve targeted business results. The SCAS will analyze the area Sickle Cell Centers and Sickle Cell Clinics and execute strategies to meet/exceed sales goals.
  • Selling Skills and Sickle Cell Centers/Clinics Value Delivery – Effectively communicate with customers to provide immediate follow-up on service requests, deliver high-impact sales presentations, and demonstrate a best-in-class level of account and technical knowledge. Effectively utilize marketing materials, programs, and other company offerings and resources to educate customers, build meaningful relationships, and drive performance within the Rare Disease Sickle Cell portfolio. Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of the complexities of the changing healthcare environment are critical to the SCAS role in assessing how these changes affect the various customer segments we serve. In addition, SCASs must strictly abide by all company policies and applicable government regulations.
  • Team Contribution – Lead Pfizer's Rare Disease portfolio in advanced and underserved Sickle Cell Centers and Clinics within the area.  Act as a resource to the national brand teams in driving awareness of the Center and Clinic needs. Support teammates by leading or collaborating while supporting our Rare Disease Culture.

  • Ability to work autonomously in complex selling environments with an emphasis on creating sound business strategies and deliver results with precision execution.
  • Form collaborative partnerships with decision-makers at large Centers, Clinics, and Hospitals to conduct need assessments and deliver compliant solutions to increase access and the appropriate use of Oxbryta (Voxelotor).
  • Utilize advanced selling skills and approaches to achieve sales target goals.
  • Coordinate with local team members to ensure appropriate level and compliant delivery of disease state awareness to advance SCD education with appropriate customers.
  • Possess in-depth expertise of assigned products, and their therapeutic areas, including advanced selling skills, conflict resolution, in-depth knowledge of payer and market issues, patient service offerings, competitors, and disease states.
  • Responsible for commercial communications and contact with KOLs, Associated HCPs, and patient support staff.
  • Appropriately triage as needed with Trade and Payer colleagues to execute national and regional payer strategies.
  • Work with government relations to develop productive relationships to establish state policies and ensure the implementation of the appropriate tactics for all brands.
  • Lead the local coordination of internal colleagues at targeted accounts through communication and collaboration to ensure alignment across various stakeholders to maximize opportunities and enable pull-through of access. Collaboration partners include but not limited to local sales colleagues, government relations, Payer Channel Access (PCA), marketing, and other Pfizer colleagues according to approved Pfizer SOPs.
  • Prioritize customers, opportunities, and projects to maximize impact, leveraging all available data sets and stakeholder input to optimize decision-making with positive results.
  • Execute marketing programs across customer segments using approved materials to deliver value-added messaging in a compelling and compliant manner; develop and execute strategic programs and have near, mid, and long-term market and financial impact.
  • Drive approved approaches that help exceed business objectives by proactively engaging leadership across the enterprise.
  • Provide the marketing and strategy teams with key local and customer-specific insights that they can then utilize in crafting new market-specific materials.
  • Cultivate relationships and generate support from the Sickle Cell Centers, KOLs, and organizational decision-makers (both public and private).
  • Maintain active customer plans and data sets via company planning resources, actively maintaining and sharing such information during quarterly business reviews with areas business partners and senior leadership
  • Exceed product performance objectives for assigned portfolio of rare disease products.  Sales Excellence Behaviors include, but are not limited to portfolio utilization, internal teamwork/collaboration, core sales competencies, project management and superior business acumen.

MUST-HAVES

  • BS/BA Degree Required
  • 7-10 years of previous award-winning pharmaceutical/biotech experience with at least five years spent in Hematology/Oncology, Orphan Drug, Rare Disease or other advanced therapeutic area (strongly preferred) or a promoted position or developmental role with demonstrated leadership across peer groups with experience selling in a specialized market.
  • Candidate must possess a thorough understanding of Non-Retail Specialty Product Dispensing Channels (HUB, Limited Distribution Networks, GPO and IDN access)
  • Thorough understanding of Managed Care Landscape/Payer Access/Pharmacy Benefit Design
  • Must be a colleague in good standing with a history of sales success, strong territory management skills, outstanding communications skills, demonstrated matrix teamwork, leadership ability and accountability.
  • Demonstrated track record of assessing account needs and bringing compliant cross-functional tools and resources to drive performance.
  • Demonstrated track record of solid business acumen, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and project management skills, as well as excellent planning and prioritization skills.
  • Experience working with key thought leaders or high-influence customers in large group practices, hospitals, or managed care organizations preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills with an advanced ability to analyze and draw compliant conclusions using sales data and call reporting applications.
  • Must have practical interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to advance and influence the acceptance of ideas while consistently following and supporting company policies.
  • Ability to travel domestically and stay overnight as necessary.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a driving record in compliance with company standards
  • Attend and participate in all Area, Regional and National Sales Meetings

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

~50% Field Related Travel with multiple overnights
