About the role

The country (senior) medical affairs scientist cardiovascular is a unique role; you are the trusted strategic scientific ambassador with national medical affairs responsibility for the respective brands of the cardiovascular Rare Diseases within the specialty care and hospital portfolio.

This is a temporary assignment of 12 months to facilitate a secondment of a medical affairs colleague. The MAS will lead efforts in partnership with the Specialty Care Medical Lead and local cross-functional teams to develop and drive medical affairs strategies in-country for the cardiovascular and hospital infectious disease area. The MAS will drive the launch preparations for a new breakthrough medicine.

Main responsibilities

The MAS cardiovascular within the Belgian specialty care team is a highly motivated MD or PhD in (Pharmaceutical) Sciences with a passion for high quality and relevant physician engagement based upon their own clinical and scientific credibility. The person is a trusted scientific ambassador providing strategic medical and scientific input to allocated medical activities for the Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group all cardiology in-line and pipeline assets.

  • Medical expertise: Be the key medical expert with full understanding of the environment, competitors, customers, and patient needs to build country medical strategic and RWE plans as well as budget management. Be a key partner in the XFT bubble for cardiology to provide key scientific input into XFT strategy. Through key internal and external partnerships, the medical affairs scientist will ensure that medical plans are successfully implemented to achieve short- and long-term objectives.

  • Customer facing: Building and maintaining meaningful diverse external stakeholder interactions with key customers with specific focus on targeted HCP’s.

About you

  • Master in medicine or PhD in relevant science area, with strong skills and/or clinical experience.

  • 4 to 7 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience or postgraduate experience preferably in cardiology.

  • Familiar with clinical research and clinical study design.

  • Facilitate open discussion and debate among key stakeholders and build internal and external relationships through partnering, anticipating needs, fulfilling expectations. 

  • Fluency in English (C2), Dutch (C2) or French (C2) required
