Summary

Dr. Sameer Sheth and Dr. Ben Hayden’s Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to lead projects studying the neurophysiology of cognition using Neuropixel and other high-contact number probes in the cortex and hippocampus in human neurosurgical patients. High-density electrodes for the study of intracranial neural recordings provides a tremendous opportunity to understand the neural basis of cognition, affect, emotion, motivation, and other related behaviors. These projects are ideal for the individual interested in acquiring and analyzing task-locked and naturalistic behavior using intracranial neurophysiology. Job Duties

• Decodes neurophysiology of cognition using Neuropixel and other high-contact number probes in the cortex and hippocampus in human neurosurgical patients.
• Assists in data acquisition and experiment setup.
• Develops data visualization tools to display meaningful features.
• Completes statistical and qualitative analyses on new and available data sets.
• Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries, protocols, and qualitative analyses.
• Develops systems, processes, and procedures for timely data collection.
• Provides statistical analysis and data management support scientific progress.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• The successful applicant will have graduate level training (PhD or equivalent) in neuroscience, neuroengineering, or similar and have experience with population statistical techniques, EEG/ERP analysis, hardware development, and cognitive neuroscience.
