What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are looking for a highly skilled Information Systems Architect to join our team in a senior/principal-level role, supporting Information Technology (IT) activities within the Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in security plan accreditations, computer IT systems (procurement and configurations), computer networking, and VTC systems management. Additionally, this role involves leading and providing strategic direction to a team of IT staff members. The candidate must be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of completion.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Design and implement IT solutions, including system setups, upgrades, and hardware/software configurations.
  • Oversee and manage IT security plans, including COMSEC activities and Archer Plans development.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex IT issues, including hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Coordinate and manage IT procurement processes, ensuring the acquisition of necessary hardware and software.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and participate in ISD and security meetings.
  • Provide strategic direction and support for IT infrastructure projects, including property accountability and classified reapplication processes.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Minimal travel is required for this position.

Salary Range:

$109,300 - $217,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Information Technology (IT) or a relevant STEM field, plus one (1) year of directly related experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in stated field, plus five (5) years of directly related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems deployed on enterprise approved computing devices.
  • Knowledge of systems accreditations for secure, robust information systems.
  • Experience with supporting OS environments on National Instruments line of PXI chassis and controllers.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Active DOE Q clearance or DoD Top Security clearance.
  • Experience with SRN/SCN Operational Technologies Zone (OTZ) applications and implementations.
  • Experience with classified systems accreditation as an Information Systems Security Official (ISSO).
  • Cyber Security Representative (CSR) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Interconnecting disperse systems via Authorizations to Connect (ATC) approvals, across Authorizing Officials (AO) accreditation boundaries, in support of testing events at various test facilities.
  • Professional certifications, to include Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) & Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Willingness to tackle new program development IT projects as they are requested by our supported customer bases.
  • Extensive experience with Sandia's IT infrastructure is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated program/project management skills applied to IT projects.

About Our Team:

The Information Technology team supports the Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs by coordinating, deploying, and managing IT hardware, security plans, and compliance. We design and implement IT solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and oversee procurement processes. Our responsibilities include developing security plans, executing system upgrades, and ensuring compliance with security standards. We provide expertise for IT infrastructure projects, ensuring reliable and secure support for both office and field-testing environments.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
