What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Safeguards & Security – Assurance
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Support the Corporate and Division Quality efforts.
- Provide support for developing presentations for Senior Managers, Director, and Division 9000 Associates Lab Director.
- Participate in the development and management of performance metrics.
- Participate in data analysis of security concerns, incidents, near misses, causes and trends.
- Collaborate with all levels of internal/external personnel and network with others in the industry to build and promote a collaborative working environment.
- Develop tools and recommend new systems, processes, training, etc. to continuously improve the Program and find innovative ways of evaluating compliance and performance.
- Become a causal analyst to facilitate meetings and develop Corrective Action Plans
Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizenship

- Social Science (Criminology/Sociology/National Security/Global Security), or Business Major or related field

About Our Team:
This job posting is designed to fill two distinct intern positions within our Safeguards and Security (S&S) center, each positioned within the departments outlined below. Each role offers a unique set of responsibilities and learning opportunities, catering to different skill sets and career interests.
The S&S Performance Assurance Department is a team of professionals responsible for Self-Assessments, Performance Assurance, and Corrective Actions Management. They evaluate the health of security programs at SNL/NM, SNL/CA, SNL Remote Sites, and subcontractor facilities, providing leadership with objective information for informed decision-making about program health and risk acceptance.
The Strategy & Program Operations Department is part of the S&S Center, whose primary function is the protection and support of Sandia\'s mission, information, resources, and people. We strive to develop strategic partnerships and provide effective tools and resources to fully integrate security into every aspect of the work performed at Sandia. The Strategy & Operations Department is responsible for leading efforts in the development, implementation, and successful execution of a diverse portfolio of S&S-related initiatives involving strategy and operations. The department is responsible for program operations such as strategic planning, risk management, program communications, data analysis, programmatic health, and management reviews. Additionally, the department is responsible for leading S&S quality initiatives and for applying quality standards across the S&S program to ensure effective, efficient, and quality processes are executed. The department also provides support for special projects and executive-level briefings.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
