Position Description
We are seeking highly motivated recent college graduates who are interested in pursuing neuroscience research as Research Assistant I. The researcher will participate in research aimed at understanding the development and function of the nervous system using experimental and computational approaches.
Research Assistants will be a part of the PiNBAC program. The Harvard Program in Neuroscience Post- Baccalaureate (PiNBAC) program is a training program for recent college graduates interested in applying to PhD programs in the neurosciences. Launched in 2020, PiNBAC offers longitudinal science curriculum, individualized professional development, and assistance in graduate applications. The overall mission of PiNBAC is to prepare talented trainees from underrepresented populations in STEM to successfully continue their training in graduate school.
This intensive hands-on research experience is supplemented by curricular activities to enhance research training, additional mentorship, and community-building activities.
Research relates to work in the following areas:
  • immunohistochemical work on nervous tissue
  • working with animal husbandry to maintain appropriate stocks and perform experiments in specific genetic backgrounds
  • perform molecular biology experiments to test the genotype and background of animals
  • perform imaging studies of various tissues to determine the cellular identity and localization of genes/proteins of interest
  • perform behavioral studies in animal models

Participation in curriculum includes attendance of dedicated meetings and advisory meetings.
 
Basic Qualifications
College background and 1+ years of relevant experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
Additional Information
This is a two-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.
Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.
