Job Description

Summary

The Lupski Lab is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Associate to join our Laboratory, which specializes in the analysis of structural variants (SVs) in the human genome. Our lab focuses on understanding the role of SVs in human disease and development, leveraging cutting-edge genomic technologies and bioinformatics tools.

Job Duties

  • Conducts high-quality research on the identification and characterization of structural variants in human genomes.
  • Appliescomputational methods for analyzing genomic data, particularly focusing on SVs such as deletions, duplications, insertions, inversions, and translocations.
  • Integrates multiple types of genomic data (e.g., short-read and long-read sequencing, RNA-seq, and chromatin conformation data) to identify and interpret SVs.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of geneticists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians.
  • Prepares and publishes research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
  • Mentors graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in human genetics and structural variant analysis.
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with long-read sequencing technologies (e.g., PacBio, Oxford Nanopore).
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application to genomic data.
