The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia, at Augusta University is currently seeking a board certified/board eligible faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to serve as a General Pediatrician. This position will provide outpatient clinical care at Palmetto Pediatrics, located in Aiken, SC, and includes academic/teaching responsibilities within the Medical College of Georgia and the Department of Pediatrics. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.
Responsibilities
Patient Care/Clinical - 90%

  • Become board certified by year 3 (three) or maintain board certification in Pediatrics.
  • Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in Pediatrics in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in assigned clinical duties with other faculty members. This includes outpatient services and on-call duties specific to pediatric clinical service.
  • Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). This includes but is not limited to: attendance at quality meetings (e.g., M&M, Quality Unit Council, etc.), proper management of documentation, completion of all online compliance training modules, attendance at faculty meetings, etc.
  • Become increasingly productive through the provision of clinical services in General Pediatrics in our outpatient clinic located in Aiken South Carolina.
  • Meet and maintain wRVU productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided. Current target equates to 65th percentile for General Pediatrics. Productivity targets are subject to change.
  • Promote good professional relationships and build referral patterns with Augusta University physicians and physicians outside of Augusta University (referring physicians in community, region and state).
  • Provide prompt feedback to referring physician

Teaching/Education - 10%
  • Provide education and training to residents, medical students and staff in pediatrics which includes but is not limited to clinical supervision, consultation and didactics.
  • Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean.
  • Attend 50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited medical school/university; Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics; must have or be eligible for a State of Georgia Medical License and State of South Carolina medical license; federal DEA for Georgia and South Carolina; DHEC certificate for South Carolina; CPR. Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
