What You Will Achieve

A scientist position for a candidate with a strong background in ligand binding immunoassays, including ELISA and Luminex platform, is immediately available. The incumbent will work with members of a team for the optimization and preparation of bulk reagents for various immunoassays developed for the Luminex platform in support of characterization of immune responses to various bacterial and viral vaccines. Strong data analysis and process troubleshooting skills are required.  The incumbent also will be responsible for developing laboratory procedures and training junior colleagues. The job requires the incumbent to maintain detailed records of the work undertaken, and give detailed reports in written and oral form.  This position operates with limited supervision. As an integral member of this dynamic team, the incumbent must have a strong, positive work ethic and be highly collaborative with the other group members.  All of the above includes practicing laboratory safety at all times and efforts toward GMP compliance.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Lead members of a team for the optimization and preparation of bulk reagents for Luminex assays used for the urine antigen detection assays, and serological antibody quantitation.

  • Create and maintain panels to be used for long term assay performance monitoring, qualification of new reagents, and assay transfer operations.

  • Collaborate with the assay development group to optimize assay parameters and troubleshoot assay issues.

  • Compile and analyze assay data for presentation to and discussion with supervisor and team.

  • Communication of team progress through data presentation both a weekly team meetings and at higher-level program meetings.

  • Author reports summarizing reagent qualification and assay optimization data.

  • Develop and update operating procedures for reagent production and qualification.

  • Perform Luminex assays for reagent qualification and release testing following protocols and SOPs.

  • Give oversight to the storage, inventory and distribution of reagents used for clinical testing.

  • Interact with external vendors to obtain quotes, and purchase reagents for clinical testing. Train colleagues on any Luminex assays, as needed.

  • This position will involve working directly with serum and urine samples from animal, human, and non-human primate sources.

  • Where applicable, performs job responsibilities in compliance with cGMP/GLP and all other regulatory agency requirements.

  • Satisfactorily completes all safety training in conformance with Departmental requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in immunology, virology, or microbiology

  • BS and 5 to 7 years or MS and 4 to 6 years of relevant academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology laboratory experience as well as a strong background in immunology, microbiology (bacteriology or virology)

  • The capacity to work effectively in a significant research program with aggressive time-constrained milestones.

  • A strong background in immunology, microbiology (bacteriology or virology)

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires the ability to stand and reach inside the hardware environment of various laboratory robotic equipment, and lift and transport robotic components to and from the laboratory bench.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may require occasional weekend work to meet critical timelines.


Work Location Assignment: On Premise

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
