Job Description

Summary

The Research Technician II will support and perform research studies in the Texas Children\'s Cancer Center Histiocytosis and Lymphoma Program Lab. Projects include basic and translational studies to understand mechanisms of pathogenesis and test novel therapeutic strategies for Histiocytic Disorders and Lymphoma with the goal of ultimately improving outcomes for patients. Research techniques will focus on molecular biology (e.g. tissue processing, nucleic acid extraction, tissue culture, PCR, flow cytometry, mouse colony maintenance) and immunology with experimental systems as well as primary human and mouse tissues. The Research Technician II will work with senior scientists to analyze results and prepare reports. Research Technician II also contribute to publications and presentations.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory experiments.
  • Works on processingof human and mouse tissues, maintenance of tissue culture, maintenance of mouse colonies, extraction and preparation of nucleic acids and proteins, flow cytometry and PCR.
  • Documents result of experiments.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches.
  • Maintains lab notebooks (physical and/or digital).
  • Contributes to database maintenance, prepares reports, supports development of presentations and publications.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
