The CI Team, with colleagues at Pfizer’s New York Headquarters and an EU-based Research and Analysis team, includes subject-matter experts from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences. Together we collaborate to provide Pfizer leadership with competitive assessments curated and crystalized into actionable insights that enable industry-leading, enterprise-focused decision-making for early- and late-stage pipeline assets across Pfizer’s Business Innovation, R&D, Digital, and Commercial organizations.
The Senior Associate, Competitive Intelligence – Emerging Markets, works closely with the Director, Competitive Intelligence – Emerging Markets and Senior Manager, Research & Analysis to identify and execute Pfizer’s competitive intelligence research priorities in support of Pfizer’s Emerging Markets commercial organization across the over 70 countries in the Latin America (LATAM), Middle East / Russia / Africa (MERA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) and across the entirety of Pfizer’s current and future therapeutic areas of interest (Oncology, Inflammation and Immunology, Internal Medicine, Vaccines, and Anti-Infectives). This individual will research the external competitive environment using primary and secondary sources, provide strategic interpretation and analysis, translate global research into emerging markets insights, and communicate insights to emerging markets leadership.
As part of the Competitive Intelligence Emerging Markets Team, this individual will help deliver on our team’s mission to ensure the successful launch of new drugs and maintain market share of existing drugs by providing actionable competitive intelligence, industry trends and best practices to support commercial decision making and identifying opportunities within emerging markets. The Senior Associate, Competitive Intelligence – Emerging Markets will monitor news, write reports, conduct ad hoc research using various databases, manage intelligence projects and stakeholder needs, and share information with global intelligence colleagues.
The Senior Associate, Competitive Intelligence – Emerging Markets is an individual with a keen attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and resourcefulness, together with strong communication skills who can defend his/her professional opinion to Pfizer executives.
Role Responsibilities
Identify emerging markets intelligence needs through interviews and meetings with key EMCO stakeholders
Contribute competitive intelligence perspective in all decision-making forums, acting as an objective representative of the external competitive environment
Define and execute the emerging markets secondary research plan, including all reporting/alerting in a timely manner
Collaborate with global competitive intelligence colleagues on research projects to ensure intelligence products are shared between global and emerging markets
Monitor and document key news developments across the LATAM region including publications authored in Spanish or Portuguese
Act as project manager for multiple intelligence projects, including helping to translate business needs into intelligence questions, facilitate the contracting process and third-party vendor management, and review intelligence products upon delivery
Act as a competitive intelligence champion across the emerging markets organization and pitch potential projects to emerging markets stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with direct working experience in competitive intelligence or related roles within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a life science or business discipline
Advanced life science degree preferred (Minimum MSc) with a preference for advanced degree holders who have a focus in business or medicine/science
A broad understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, specifically in Latin America
Service-oriented, highly collaborative, self-motivated, curious, and results-oriented
Professional working proficiency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese required
