POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of the Clinical Data Sciences PMO will be responsible for overseeing the project management operations within the Clinical Data Sciences (CDS) department. This role involves strategic planning, resource monitoring and leading the PMO team to ensure that clinical data management led and cross-functional projects are aligned with strategic objectives, endorsed, chartered, and prioritized.
The Director of the Clinical Data Sciences PMO establishes and oversees the project management process for non-portfolio projects including:
Governance
Team leadership
Prioritization
Tracking, monitoring, and reporting
Communication
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Major responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Develop and implement PMO processes and policies to streamline operations within the CDS department
Build and maintain relationships with CDS senior leadership, key PMO stakeholders, and act as a trusted advisor to support the strategic alignment and prioritization of projects
Influence cross-functional teams to align CDS project objectives with broader organizational goals
Oversee the CDS project portfolio, ensuring that all CDS sponsored projects are delivered in accordance with regulatory requirements and Pfizer's quality standards
Contribute to the development and review of clinical data management strategies and deliverables
Drive innovation within the CDS PMO, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance project management capabilities
Establish and manage the intake and backlog of project proposals/requests to enable the efficient use of resources
Ensure interdependencies across CDS programs/projects are identified effectively and risks are managed preemptively
Understand the GBDM Roadmap and organize our CDS strategic transformation initiatives and process improvement resources around it
Regularly review and evaluate opportunities to improve company’s project management best practices in order to achieve higher maturity
Support and coach project leads and managers
Provide support to project managers to standardize the execution of projects, improving communication and risk management
Design the CDS PMO structure, operating model, and outputs are captured in guidelines to properly communicate across the organization
Define and lead the analysis, selection, and roll-out of PMO tools that enable prioritization of CDS led and supported initiatives
Prepares or coordinates regular executive summaries for senior leadership on project portfolio
Through owning the portfolio reporting and reviews with CDS Leadership Team, will influence the strategic alignment and prioritization of projects
Ensure projects include full implement plans for successful launches with planned measures of success that ensure long-term adoption
Ensure measurement of success metrics are collected and reported in line with planned ROI
Ensure functional area deliverables are understood, cross-functionally aligned, execution of deliverables and timelines are on track
Develop and employ strategies to bring alignment and true partnership between business process, technology, and project value
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
10+ years’ experience
Proven ability to appropriately analyze and solve problems and make pragmatic decisions
Ability to be flexible, adapt to change, work independently, as well as work as part of a team in a matrix environment
Ability to manage competing projects and effectively prioritize assignments
Excellent verbal, written, communication and time management skills
Project management experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED QUALIIFICATIONS
Master's degree
Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
The PMO Director should have a proven track record of successful project design and delivery of multiple projects, an ability to improve project management practices with an emphasis on strategic alignment and prioritization of projects. In addition, the qualifications, skills and experience include:
Bachelor’s degree in science, business or related filed, required
Certification in Project Management is highly preferred
Proven experience in a leadership role within a PMO or similar function, preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
Ability to influence without authority
Flexible, adaptable and resourceful when managing changing strategies and priorities
Demonstrated leadership ability to establish and manage high‐performance teams in a matrix
Exceptional influencing and facilitation skills
Organizational and planning skills
Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects from concept to full implementation
Motivated to build relationships at executive levels with technology, solutions, customers and vendor groups
Inspire others, creates vision and strategy, energizes others
Exhibit strong team leadership and decision-making skills
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
Strong understanding of clinical data management processes and regulatory requirements
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Expert‐level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes (e.g., Project and Portfolio Management Methodology – PPM)
Budget, cost and value assessment skills
Knowledge of resource management tools
Ability to travel up to 20%
Proficient in project management software
Strong Microsoft Project and Excel skills

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
