Position Information

The Nursing program at Dickinson State University strives to be in harmony with the university mission, “…to provide service relevant to the…health, and quality of life for the citizens of the state of N.D.” our primary role is to foster and facilitate the development of competent healthcare practitioners who are prepared to serve in a continually evolving health care environment.



DSU is looking to hire Assistant Professor(s) of Nursing. This faculty member assumes an equitable teaching load and maintains expertise in areas of teaching responsibility in didactic and clinical courses in the AASPN and BSN programs; is academically qualified and credentialed, possesses an RN license in ND, or is eligible to obtain a ND RN license, and contributes to educational effectiveness via continued quality improvement and is responsible to plan, implement and evaluate the respective nursing education programs. (BSN face-to-face program).



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution
Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, unencumbered license as recognized by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Individual must also continue to meet ND Board of Nursing education requirement of 12 Contact Hours for licensure renewal (every two years).
Two (2) years minimum experience in clinical nursing practice.
Knowledge and experience in acute care nursing across the lifespan.
Excellent computer and Internet skills
Ability to safely operate supplies and equipment utilized in patient care and/or classroom
Ability to organize/prioritize
Demonstrable strong interpersonal/oral/written communication skills
Demonstrable strong customer service skills
Detail oriented


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and experience in medical-surgical nursing
Experience teaching undergraduate level courses


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Provide instruction in the various courses offered by DSU.


Physical demands for didactic teaching are as needed to carry out the given duty; they are not excessive and are largely controlled by the employee.


Physical demands for clinical teaching include gross and fine motor skills including but not limited to moving objects 10-50 pounds; push/pull 25 pounds; stand, sustain repetitive movements for 6-12 hours including walking, sitting, balancing, twisting, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, crouching to provide patient care.


The individual in this position is expected to participate in scholarship activities and self-improvement.


The individual in this position is expected to make on-campus and off-campus contributions to the university.
