Qualifications:
Earth Systems and the corresponding Laboratory (EES 100/100L) introduces students to the field of physical geography: the study of spatial distributions of phenomena across landscape, processes that created and changed those distributions, and implications for those distributions on people. This course will investigate the four spheres (atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere) of the Earth system in detail as well as their interconnected. Additionally, this course will provide students with the scientific background to address many global issues.
This lecture and laboratory will be taught on the Moraga campus in person during the 2025 Spring term:
Lecture: Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 8:00 - 9:05 am (3 units)
Laboratory: Friday 9:05 - 10:20 am (2 units)
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular virtual office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.
Candidates must have a Master's or Ph.D. preferred in a relevant area of Environmental or Earth Science discipline and a successful record of teaching experience in a related field at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to those who have previously taught the course or EES 30.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary range for this position is $12,412 - $17,180 (5 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
