Laboratory Technical Assistant - Chemistry (Full Time, Days)

We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant to join our Clinical Pathology team. Working under the direction of the Department of Pathology/Laboratory Director and Chemistry Manager, this role supports various laboratory tasks in compliance with CLIA Sect. 493.1445(a). Responsibilities include receiving, processing, routing, and storing specimens from all hospital areas, as well as assisting with related tasks in the specimen processing area. As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Operate and maintain chemistry lab instruments, focusing on Beckman Coulter and Roche systems.
  • Perform instrument troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
  • Accurately monitor, retrieve, and route specimens following established protocols for automation line operations and manual specimen handling.
  • Process and troubleshoot specimen orders in LIS and HIS systems, addressing discrepancies and communicating with providers as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, maintain lab orderliness, and follow regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to adapt to workload changes and meet departmental goals efficiently.

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent . Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, or related field, preferred.
  • Up to one-year experience in a hospital laboratory setting preferred, working with clinical laboratory specimens and staff.
  • Proficiency in Beckman Coulter instruments such as AU Chemistry Analyzers, DxI Immunoassay Systems or Roche Cobas Analyzers, preferred.
  • Post High School Vocational / Specialized Training

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $22.08 - $33.12 / hour
