Position Summary:

Assistant Professor of Health and Physical Education. Primarily charged with teaching undergraduate classes in Health and Exercise Science (HES), Health Education (HLED), and Physical Education (PE); participate in scholarly activity, and provide departmental, school, university, and professional service. This is a full time, tenure track position in the Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science Department within the College of Education and Health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate HES, HLED and PE classes as needed with ability to deliver course content in traditional, online, and hybrid formats

Effectively advise students at the undergraduate level.

Engage students in high impact learning practices.

Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service relevant to the university, community and state.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Content area knowledge.

Positive collaborative and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Time management skills.

Creativity in teaching and developing/sustaining scholarship program.

Minimum Requirements:

Earned doctorate (ABD considered with PhD conferred in year 1 of employment) in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or Health and Physical Education.

A successful interview and successful teaching demonstration.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active participation in Kinesiology/Health/Physical Education/Strength & Conditioning professional organizations.

At least one of the following credentials:

Athletic Trainer Certified/Licensed;

ACSM - Exercise Physiologist;

CSCCa - Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified;

NCSF - Strength Coach; or

NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.

A minimum of 1 year experience in K-12 teaching in public or private school systems

A minimum of 1 year public health experience

Knowledge and implementation of best practices and methods in traditional, online and hybrid instruction.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

The work location will be classrooms and gyms in Hull, or physical activity facilities on the ATU campus. Physical demands include managing equipment for various activities, moving equipment, and participating in activities. Computer use will be necessary. Have and maintain the physical and mental abilities, communication skills, and stamina necessary to complete the essential functions of the position in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
