Job Description

Summary

The Baylor Medicine Spine Center is looking to hire a Radiological Technician to support 4 spine physicians with spine procedures. This position will be required to operate a CARM and assist during spine procedures.

Job Duties

  • Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing the patient's needs and providing patient education.
  • Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
  • Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
  • Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care.
  • Performs complete diagnostic imaging tests on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the physician.
  • Obtains and documents patient history
  • Prepares equipment ensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards.
  • Performs periodic QA and ensures appropriate documentation is completed.
  • Problem solves equipment failure and contact Practice Manager and/or manufacturer regarding equipment problems.
  • Ensures that daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before/during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards.
  • Completes all quality checks and ensures that equipment logs are maintained.
  • Completes all clinical supply inventories, ensuring that the diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies required to perform the procedure.
  • Demonstrates competency in the PACS process and performs the daily PACS QA process and requirements.
  • Communicates with physicians and administrative staff to ensure that the patients receive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient and safe manner.
  • Assists with patient scheduling when required
  • Ensures that patient orientation, patient preparation (including starting IV's and drawing labs as necessary), and patient teaching is provided prior, during and following the test completion.
  • May be asked to obtain necessary written consent and understanding for any specific procedures.
  • Obtains and documents patient history according to specific departmental procedural protocols.
  • Completes the diagnostic examination according to specific departmental procedural protocols.
  • Obtains assistance with any diagnostic procedures which are not completed, or if there are any patient care issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • No experience required.
  • Certification and Registration as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry or Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Licensure as a Medical Radiological Technologistor Limited Medical Radiological Technologistby the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
