Job Summary
Job Posting Refresh
Maintenance of mouse colony by crossing tissue specific mice with various floxed mice to make tissue-specific knockout mice. Genotyping assays to distinguish each of the mouse lines. Update database. Protein, RNA, DNA isolation and quantification. Plasmid amplification and tissue culture and histological and immunofluorescence staining.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Assist with maintaining mouse colony through selective breeding and culling. Assist with weaning and genetically identifying offspring through strain-specific genotyping assays. Perform experiments: Protein, RNA, DNA isolation and quantification. Tissue cutting and immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence analysis. Analyzing gels and updating database as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting or clinical trials research. OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting or clinical trials research.
Preferred Qualifications
Mouse handling, protein, RNA, DNA isolation/quantification, and histological analysis experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Willingness and ability to work with research animals. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn. Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking, prioritization, organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete work and meet deadlines, and work independently with only general supervision.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday through Friday.
Pay Band: B5
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
