Job ID: 251756Position number: 20014259The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking application for two clinically-oriented ABIM board-certified academic cardiologists to participate in both inpatient and outpatient services within the vastly expanding activities within the division. Opportunities exist to focus on areas such as vascular medicine, onco-cardiology, non-transplant heart failure (any mix). Opportunities to participate in echocardiography and other aspects of non-invasive imaging are present to the extent that they are desired. Opportunities abound to work with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders. Potential for leadership roles are also available in the Echo Lab and Cardio-Oncology Program. Education and clinical research will be available as well based on experience and expertise. Our cardiology practice consists of a collaborative group of four interventionalists, two structural interventionalist, three electrophysiologists, two advanced heart failure specialist and thirteen general cardiologists. Augusta University has the region's only academic medical center with a dedicated heart and vascular program that offers a broad range of cardiac services for adults and children to include a General Cardiology Fellowship Program, Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program. AU's dedicated team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and advanced practice providers care for patients with complex heart and vascular disease. Due to our success, our clinical cardiology practice and educational programs have continued to grow and expand.
Responsibilities
  1. Develop a robust out-patient clinical practice with three (3) one-half day clinics per week initially at the downtown practice site and satellite locations. Staff Fellow's clinic on an as-needed basis.
  1. Participate in the Inpatient CCU, Ward and Consult Services and reading ECGs.
  1. Participate in the Echo Lab, CT, Nuclear and cardiac MRI reading schedules as your interests and training allow. Weeknight and weekend call and echo reading pools are shared equally among cardiology imaging faculty.
  1. Participate in structural echocardiographic imaging training as needed to assist with TAVR, MitraClip and Watchman procedures.
  1. Participate in night and weekend call coverage at all hospitals and in-patient cardiology services as needed and similar to your colleagues.
  1. Generate work RVU's at or above the 65th%ile for a non-invasive cardiologist as reported by the UHC Faculty Practice Solution Center and adjusted for your assigned clinical FTE.
  1. Participate in the teaching activities of the Division in support of Phase I, II and III medical students; residents primarily from the Department of Medicine but also from other Departments; and the training of Cardiology fellows while on Cardiology Consult Services.
  1. Actively participate in faculty meetings and marketing and outreach activities which may include short trips to meet with referring physicians, groups or hospitals.
  1. Participate in scholarly activities, such as clinical/translational research in an area of your choosing, publication of case reports, review articles, etc. Support a productive program of scholarly activities amongst trainees and junior faculty.

Required Qualifications
MD, Board certified, Board eligible, completion of cardiology fellowship
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor-Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
