Job Summary
Within the Registered Nurse (RN) established scope of practice, assesses patients, and implements and documents nursing care. Assists clinical providers during examinations and procedures. Performs various laboratory tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. This position will perform a variety of duties to include supporting patient's clinical appointments, nurse-led triage function using algorithm-based treatments, immunization compliance, blood-borne pathogen exposure program, documenting patient information clearly and accurately, and providing patient education on a wide variety of healthcare topics.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
PROVIDES NURSING CARE IN ACCORDANCE WITH GA LICENSE AS A REGISTERED NURSE: Screens patients for chief complaint, symptoms, signs, and obtains and evaluates vital signs when indicated, using above mentioned evaluation and assessment clinical skills to determine whether patients need to be treated immediately or can be seen on an appointment basis. Documents patient information clearly and accurately with attention to details using Health Services Electronic Medical Record system and e-prescribing platform as a provider's agent. Communicates effectively with clinical care team to improve patient care, including but not limited to bringing items of immediate concern to the appropriate provider. Assists patients to achieve health care goals; demonstrates patient advocacy, assuring patients' right to privacy, safety and confidentiality. Administers oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous medications, allergy injections, PPD skin tests, intravenous fluids, and vaccines as per protocol or by direct written order of a provider.
BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGEN EXPOSURE: Assists with the Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure program for the clinic, maintaining monthly reports, all updates for patients, and providing annual education to the clinical staff on policy and procedure updates.
PROVIDES TRIAGE SERVICE FOR PATIENTS WHO REQUEST SERVICES AT THE STUDENT HEALTH CLINIC, AS FOLLOWS: Implement a wide range of patient evaluation and assessment clinical skills specific to supporting the patient appointment and triage function of the Student Health Services. Provide algorithm-based medical treatment within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse in Georgia following established standing orders written by a supervising physician. Identifies unique and recurring nursing needs of the patient and delivers them as defined by the nursing practice parameters of the state licensing board and established standing orders by the Student Health providers.
PATIENT EDUCATION: Provide individualized patient education on a variety of health topics, to include health screenings, first aid, immunizations, diet and nutrition, sexual health, diabetes education, travel medicine, injury prevention, women's and men's health, self-care, and other health topics.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned (SANE- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner; assist with immunization compliance and campus outreach programs).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing and/or advanced nursing degree from an accredited college or university. Current, active State of Georgia Licensure in good standing as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS and ACLS certification at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in ambulatory care setting, preferably at a college/university health clinic.
Experience working independently with a multidisciplinary team of staff and providers, following nurse-led protocols, using an electronic medical record for documentation and e-prescribing.
Experience with triage and recognizing emergent symptoms of acute patient decompensation or instability, including performing Basic Life Support CPR.
Experience in administering vaccines, oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications.
Experience as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Knowledge of Electronic Health Records digital platform.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Must have good verbal, hearing, sight, memory and manual dexterity skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Verbal and written communications with internal clinic staff, external agents with students, University staff and leadership, local community agencies and personnel.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/ Monday-Friday
Pay Band: B12
Salary: $29.95/hourly - $30.06/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
