The Department of Health Management, Economics and Policy at Augusta University School of Public Health is seeking an outstanding faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, interested in an academic teaching career. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, renewable based on performance and available funding. Teaching will be primarily in our online Master of Public Health and our PhD in Applied Health Sciences programs. A mutually agreed upon start date will be determined by the successful candidate and department chair. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 95%
Teach up to seven courses per year within the MPH or PhD programs, advise graduate students through the AU Online platform. Participate in course development.
Service - 5%
Provide service to the School, department, and community through participation in faculty meetings, committees, professional organizations, and community engagement activities.
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree (DrPh or PhD) in a Public Health, Health Policy, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Social Science or a related public health discipline.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

AUSPH is also home to the Institute of Public and Preventive Health, a multidisciplinary research institute focused on improving health, reducing disparities, and preventing illnesses and injuries in Georgia and beyond.
HMEP
The Department of Health Management, Economics and Policy (HMEP) is one of three departments in the newly formed School of Public Health. This highly interdisciplinary department includes faculty with backgrounds and research interests in Public Health, Health Economics, Ethics, Health Informatics, e-Health, Biomedical Innovation, and Law. The faculty primarily teach in the MPH and Applied Health Sciences PhD programs. Faculty within the HMEP department are highly collaborative with other faculty in the School of Public Health as well as with other colleges and research centers across the university. Several faculty have established research collaborations with international partners.
