Job SummaryThe Center for Statistical Genetics (CSG) in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan has an exciting opportunity for a Bioinformatics Analyst (UM job title: Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist - Senior). You will join a highly interactive team that serves as the Informatics Research Center for NHLBI's TOPMed program. You will support the integration of metabolomics, proteomics and/or RNA-sequencing information into studies that already have whole genome sequence data for 10,000s of individuals. This is an opportunity to work in a rewarding research area that always poses new technical and computational problems.

Responsibilities*
Process and quality control omics data for the TOPMed Project, which has already sequenced >180,000 deep whole genomes. (20%)
Develop pipelines to process and analyze multi-omic datasets, including methylation, metabolomics, proteomics, and/or RNAseq. (20%)
Establish and maintain best practices for reproducible bioinformatic analyses. (20%)
Follow relevant scientific literature to ensure use of optimal methods and understand emerging practices across the field. (20%)
Contribute to key reports and papers for presentations and publication and present at scientific conferences. (20%)
Required Qualifications*
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2-5 years experience in bioinformatics or a related domain.
Proficiency in analyzing large-scale biological datasets and familiarity with sequencing technologies.
Expertise in RNA-seq or metagenomics analyses.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Perl, or Java.
Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus.
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in Docker and workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
