Research Technician I - Rice Lab

Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Rice Lab is seeking a Research Technician to conduct research in cellular and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease and normal brain function using mouse models. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Managing a mouse colony (update strain database, set up breeders, weaning litters, and genotyping by PCR)

Dissecting, sectioning, immunostaning, and imaging mouse brain tissue

Culturing of mammalian cells

Biochemical techniques, including Western blotting, ELISA, protein purification, plasmid preparations

Lab organizational tasks

Participating in lab and departmental meetings
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.

Previous experience handling laboratory mice.

Previous experience in molecular or cellular laboratory techniques
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience managing a mouse colony.

Interest in neurobiology or Alzheimer's disease research.

Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording.

Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
