Research Technician I - Rice Lab

Department: Aging & Metabolism
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Rice Lab is seeking a Research Technician to conduct research in cellular and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease and normal brain function using mouse models. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing a mouse colony (update strain database, set up breeders, weaning litters, and genotyping by PCR)
  • Dissecting, sectioning, immunostaning, and imaging mouse brain tissue
  • Culturing of mammalian cells
  • Biochemical techniques, including Western blotting, ELISA, protein purification, plasmid preparations
  • Lab organizational tasks
  • Participating in lab and departmental meetings
    Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Previous experience handling laboratory mice.
  • Previous experience in molecular or cellular laboratory techniques
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience managing a mouse colony.
  • Interest in neurobiology or Alzheimer's disease research.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
