Lasell University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month open-rank Professor of Forensic Science to join this highly regarded, nationally recognized program within the School of Health Sciences. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly successful and sought-after forensic science bachelor’s program, one of only 31 in the nation accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC), and the only undergraduate program in Massachusetts to hold this distinction. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond program specific needs to shape the on-going development of the curricula offered within the School of Health Sciences.

With student demand continuing to grow, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum, mentoring students, and furthering Lasell’s commitment to inclusive, experiential learning. Faculty bring deep expertise in forensic science, law enforcement, and criminology, and are often called upon by media for expert commentary, reinforcing the program’s strong public presence and credibility. Located just 8 miles from Boston, Lasell offers state-of-the-art forensic labs and robust internship placements with agencies such as the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab. This, combined with Lasell’s dedication to inclusive, student-focused education, presents a unique opportunity to contribute to curriculum innovation and strengthen a program built on excellence, rigor, and real-world application.

This position reports to the Program Chair of Forensic Science and is a non-tenure track appointment (Lasell is a non-tenure granting institution). Faculty teach 4 courses (12 credits) per semester, are on campus at least four days per week, and may have the opportunity to teach in summer. Teaching responsibilities include forensic science courses and non-forensic science-based courses which align with candidate’s expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Contribute to course development aligned with FEPAC standards
• Provide didactic and laboratory instruction and assessment
• Mentor and advise undergraduate students
• Active participation in school and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising
• Serve as a visible advocate for the forensic science program, engaging with prospective students and the public
• Support the Connected Learning philosophy through project-based teaching
• Contribute to a diverse, inclusive educational environment

• Interest in contributing to Honors and Core Curriculum (optional opportunity)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Ph.D. in Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated ability to teach both advanced forensic science courses and foundational general science courses at the undergraduate level
• Experience mentoring undergraduate students through capstone research projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior college teaching experience
• Proven ability to attract and retain new students
• Professional experience in forensic science analysis within an accredited or nationally recognized crime laboratory
• Familiarity with, or direct experience in, academic programs accredited by the AAFS Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC)
