Job Description

Summary

Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. May supervise other research staff assisting on assigned studies.

Focus of studies will be around Brain and Skull Base Tumors, however, assignments of other neurosurgery-related research studies is likely.

Job Duties

  • Interviews, screens and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • May collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • The studies for which the individual would serve as coordinator would involve multiple sites and require outcomes reporting into a research database.
  • This role would likely indirectly help lead/precept future unpaid research volunteers who express interest in assisting with studies.
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies.
  • Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, imaging diagnostics, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party.
  • May correspond with patient throughout study.
  • Orders supplies and equipment for studies.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, ideally in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics). A strong interest in neuroscience is highly desired.
  • Clinical research experience.
  • Experience working with patients and fmailies is highly valued.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
