Job Description

Summary

The Research Assistant II will provide advanced technical and organizational support for translational and mechanistic studies in human immunology. The position involves molecular and cellular experiments, data collection, and coordination of research activities within the Division of IAR.

Job Duties

• Design, plan, and direct experiments independently with supervision from Principal Investigator(s) regarding design and data interpretation.
• Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments, including cloning, PCR, mutagenesis, and nucleic acid extraction.
• Conduct mammalian cell culture, transfection, and viral transduction using established laboratory models.
• Assist in immune-cell functional assays, including flow cytometry–based phenotyping, activation, and cytokine assays.
• Support preparation of samples for genomic and transcriptomic analyses, coordinating with sequencing cores as needed.
• Maintain accurate lab records, analyze experimental results, and prepare summary reports for the principal investigator.
• Collaborate with the clinical research team to organize biospecimen shipments, track regulatory documentation, and ensure compliance with institutional and IRB requirements.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, prepare reagents and buffers, and uphold biosafety and quality control standards.
• Contribute to training and orientation of junior staff, students, and visiting researchers in basic techniques and lab safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
