As a Certified OphthalmicAssistant, you will support the Ophthalmologist by performing various clinical and administrative tasks throughout the department. You willassistwith direct patient care as directed, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and at ease throughout their appointment and exam. In this role, your ability tofacilitatea welcoming environment can make a difference in the lives ofCleveland Clinicpatients every day.
A caregiver in this position works8:00am to 4:30am or 7:30am to 4:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Receive andpreparepatientsfor examination or treatment.
- Perform routine screening tests.
- Document patient informationinthepatientmedical record.
- Perform stocking,maintenanceand other related duties as assigned, includingmaintainingexam rooms,equipmentand supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Successful completion of the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant written exam
- Recent graduate of an Ophthalmic Technology Program
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
- One year of experience providing direct care under the supervision of anOphthalmologist
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
- May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
- Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
